Once you have registered for the Big Midnight Walk we will send you a full information and fundraising pack, but here is a little information….

The route will start at Torbay Leisure Centre, Clennon Valley, Paignton. On arrival you will be registered and provided with your unique walkers number- this must be worn at all times during the walk. The walk will go along to Paignton seafront, around gasworks bend and along Torquay harbour.

Route Change!!

We are changing the route around the Imperial Hotel and Walls Hill/ Daddy Hole Plain. You will be happy to hear that we are now keeping to the road around the Imperial Hotel and not walking the coastal path.

From the hotel you will walk up Park Hill Rd, and join Meadfoot Rd and along to Meadfoot Sea Road, therefore it is much easier on the legs.

The route will continue as planned along Ilsham Park, then we have a slight change as we head up Ansteys Cove Rd (which will be closed to traffic). From there you will join Babbacombe Rd for a short while and join to the footpath to walk up to Walls Hill (which will be lit and marshalled). From then on it is as originally planned, after a hot snack and a cup of tea you will head down Babbacombe Road and then along the seafronts to base camp at Torbay Leisure Centre.

Walls Hill is the half way point. The return leg is down Babbacombe Road, and back along Torquay and Paignton seafront (avoiding Torquay harbour) to the leisure centre. Alternatively, you can finish the walk at Walls Hill and be bused back to Torbay Leisure Centre.

There will be toilets available along the route, refreshment points and the route will be marshaled to keep you safe. St Johns Ambulance and Raynet, radio communications specialists, will be present on the night. More details will be posted on the web site and sent to you nearer the time.

After the walk

You will need to collect all the money that your sponsors have pledged to give to you for finishing the walk- don’t forget make sure they ticked the gift aid box. See our fundraising hints and tips.  Do this as soon as you can, when you have your total write a cheque (no cash please!) and pop it in the post along with your sponsorship forms.

Please do this as soon as possible, don’t forget it costs the charities vital money to follow up missing sponsorship!
